Another golfing classic is almost here, and this time it’s Team USA vs the International Team!
The 2026 Presidents Cup heads to Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois, with the competition taking place from 24–27 September. The wider event begins with practice days on September 22 and 23.
And if you’re looking for a reason to get your golf betting slip ready, there is plenty to keep an eye on.
Team USA: The favourites
It is difficult to look past the United States as the favourites.
The Americans will be led by world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who is heading into his third Presidents Cup appearance. Scheffler has once again been one of the most consistent players on the planet, and while he hasn’t won a major in 2026, his season has included a win at The American Express, another victory at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and a host of top finishes.
But Scheffler isn’t the only American threat.
Cameron Young arrives with some serious momentum after winning The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in March. He also finished runner-up to Ryan Fox at The Open Championship, making 2026 a breakthrough year for the American.
Then there’s Wyndham Clark, who added the 2026 U.S. Open title to his résumé. Throw in proven Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup performers such as Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay, and Captain Brandt Snedeker certainly isn’t short of options.

Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Young, Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns, Russell Henley, Collin Morikawa, Chris Gotterup, Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay, Jackson Koivun and Jacob Bridgeman.
Can the International Team cause an upset?
Captain Geoff Ogilvy has a seriously difficult job on his hands.
The United States has won the last 10 Presidents Cups, and the International Team hasn’t lifted the trophy since 1998. That makes the International side the obvious underdog — but there is plenty of firepower in the squad.
Leading the charge is Ryan Fox, who arrives in Chicago as a major champion after producing a sensational final-hole birdie to win the 2026 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. He edged Cameron Young by one shot to claim his first major title.
Then you’ve got two Masters champions in Hideki Matsuyama and Adam Scott, as well as Si Woo Kim, Tom Kim and Min Woo Lee.
And South African golf fans have their own man to cheer for.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout – the dark horse?
Christiaan Bezuidenhout was selected as one of Geoff Ogilvy’s captain’s picks and will be proudly flying the South African flag at Medinah.
Could Bezuidenhout be the surprise performer who helps turn the Presidents Cup on its head?
That’s where things get interesting.
Presidents Cup betting: Is USA too short?
On paper, Team USA looks like the obvious pick — and the bookmakers agree.
Current outright markets have the USA around 1.25 to win, with the International Team around 4.50 and a tie around 15.00. In American odds, that’s approximately USA -400, International +350 and Tie +1400.
That makes the Americans strong favourites, but it also raises an interesting question for bettors:
Is backing the favourite at short odds worth it, or is there more value in taking a chance on the underdog?
For those who prefer something a little more exciting than simply picking the overall winner, Presidents Cup betting can offer plenty of angles, including match winners, player match-ups, individual match markets and live betting as the competition unfolds.
And match play brings an extra element of unpredictability. A player can be in fantastic form over 72 holes and still lose a single match because of one missed putt or a spectacular opponent.
Who lifts the Cup?
History certainly favours the Americans. The U.S. team has dominated the Presidents Cup for years, and this year’s squad combines world-class talent with home-course advantage.
But the International Team has arguably one of its most interesting line-ups in years.
Ryan Fox is coming off a major championship win. Hideki Matsuyama and Adam Scott know exactly what it takes to win on the biggest stages. And players like Bezuidenhout, Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim could make life very uncomfortable for the Americans.
Team USA may be the favourite — but in match play, nothing is guaranteed.
One thing is certain: with four days of head-to-head golf, big names, national pride and plenty of pressure, the 2026 Presidents Cup could be one to watch.
